Design

Today at work, I was taking care of a customer as I usually do, when the lovely elderly lady asked me if I was in school. I currently am a design student. Once I finished the conversation with the customer and went about my business, one of my co-workers over heard the conversation and continued it with me. They had said that they wouldn't be able to do that, simply on the bias that you have to be able to draw to be a design student.

Now I maybe wrong for getting a bit offended, but being a design student takes a lot more than simply "being able to draw." Granted it does help, but being someone who cant even draw stick figures worth shit, this instantly made me feel like a failure. All drawing is, is an ability, an ability in this massive arsenal of abilities you learn and master. Placement and formatting in my opinion are more important than the drawings that are displayed. So for anyone who wants to do design work of any kind, relax, its not all about "being able to draw"

Until next time
